"Don't apply to less popular majors or take on extracurriculars you don't genuinely enjoy just for college apps—it becomes apparent in writing. Start essays really early; essays are the only thing you can change come junior year. Develop a wide range of supplement essays that can be reworked for different prompts. Harvard and Stanford admissions seem to have different preferences than other T20s."
