"Start essays early (she started in late July, scrapped first idea in August, finished in late October). Do thorough research on colleges before applying. Essays are the most convincing factor—use narrative and emotive writing to market yourself and show how you'll contribute to campus. Make AOs want you by demonstrating your unique value to their community."
