"I think 10-12 schools is generally a good range. 18 was a bit much, but if you don't really know where you want to go and have the opportunity to apply to that many or more, then I say go for it. You really never know what could happen. Remember that you're more than your results. I got rejected at schools I thought I had a decent chance at, and accepted to schools I thought I had little chance at. It's random, and means nothing about you."
